Haier portable air conditioners

Haier is a Chinese company founded in 1984. It produces refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. One of its most popular international products is the Haier portable air conditioning unit, which is available in sizes capable of cooling from 250 square feet to 500 square feet.

They can be wheeled about the home to cool rooms on an as-required basis. Yet they must be connectected to a window port. All units also include a dehumidification function and a self-draining drain pan, so they are basically autonomous. Haier offers a one-year limited manufacturer warranty.

The prices for these units range from about $270 to $600.

Frigidaire window mounted conditioners

Frigidaire is an American company established in 1918. They specialize in cooling equipment. Its popular window mounted air conditioners are an excellent single-room solution.

While less mobile than portable conditioners, these single room air conditioners can still be moved about if necessary. They have the advantage of being very cheap. Frigidaire's smallest AC unit, capable of cooling 150 square feet, is priced at about $120. The much larger 2,000 square foot cooling unit is priced at only $1,000.

The availability of many incremental sizes makes it easy to buy the right size of conditioner to avoid wasting energy.

Frigidaire offers a one-year full warranty that includes labor costs, and a five-year warranty on all sealed systems.

Friedrich split system air conditioners

Founded in 1883, Friedrich is an American company that offers a uniquely unobtrusive split system air conditioner. With slim profiles that integrate into your home, these nearly invisible single room air conditioners provide between 14,000 and 28,000 BTUs of cooling. That is enough to cover 500 to 1000 square feet, for roughly $900.

These units are not  very portable, however. You should always hire a contractor to install this more permanent type of air conditioner.
